Loyalty goes a long way with Nick Amanatidis.
Every week for nearly a year, Joey McDonald, a new home sales associate for Indigo by Neal Communities, has been frequenting Modern Gents Premier Barbershop & Bar in Cooper Creek. Since then, Joey has developed a personal rapport with Nick, the owner of the barbershop, and his family.
So when it came time for Nick’s parents, George and Soumela, to purchase a new home, he naturally turned to Joey for guidance. At the urging of their son, the couple decided to meet Joey and find out more about Indigo, an active lifestyle single-family home community by Neal Communities.
Nick and his family are amazing people,” says Joey. “You can see the closeness of the family. You can see the love they share and it’s clear that they value each other.”
Natives of Greece, George and Soumela toured a couple of the model homes, but it wasn’t until the couple walked into one of Indigo’s move-in ready homes that George and Soumela fell in love.
With three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a two-car garage, the 1,407-square- foot Valiant floor plan proved to be the perfect size for the couple. And with its grey color palette, white cabinets, granite countertops and open concept, the home also had the modern feel that George and Soumela were looking for.
“When they walked into the home, they knew they had found their dream home,” says Nick. “Just like we hope people feel the difference when they come in our place, we felt the difference when we walked into Indigo.”
After touring the home, George and Soumela visited Indigo’s clubhouse and pool—something the couple didn’t have while living in the Chicago area. Within a week of their initial visit, George and Soumela were ready to commit to Indigo. On Jan. 21, the couple signed an agreement for their new home.
“The layout is open, and it’s the perfect fit for us,” says Soumela. “Joey was very trustworthy and great to work with.”
“Joey was what we needed and who we needed to make the deal happen,” says Nick. “He did an awesome job of making my parents just feel very confident in what they were doing.”
On the same day that George and Soumela decided on their new Indigo home, Nick signed a lease for his second Modern Gents location at the corner of State Road 70 and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard.
Nick opened his first Modern Gents location in February 2017. Designed as an upscale luxury barbershop, Modern Gents features a classy upscale bar in the back, as well as wine and cigar lounges, seven flat screen TVs and WiFi.
“Our place is much more than a haircut, you can get a haircut anywhere, but it’s an experience,” says Nick. “We tried creating a place that we would want to go to and be happy to go to.”
While George and Soumela don’t have a hand in Modern Gents on a daily basis, the couple, who owned restaurants and bars in northwest Indiana, often chip in with business advice or you’ll find them relaxing at the bar with a cup of coffee.
More than anything, George and Soumela are looking forward to becoming a part of their new active community and spending time with Nick, Katie and their two grandsons, 4-year-old Georgios and 2-year-old Christos.
“It’s really exciting to have our parents a golf cart ride away,” says Nick. “They’re essentially right down the street from me.”
